Help/Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Is it legal to share Scrimshanders MP3s with other people?

A: Yes, and we encourage you to share our music with anyone who might like it. We publish our songs under a Creative Commons license, which essentially means that we'd like credit for what we've done if it is republished anywhere. And, of course, we'd appreciate a donation from anyone who feels that the music is worth it.

Q: When I click on the song links, they play automatically. How do I download them and save them to my computer?

A: Click your right mouse button on a song link. You'll be presented with a menu; choose "Save Target As ..." or "Save Link As . . .". Then choose a place to save the file on your computer.

Q: How do I burn a CD from MP3 files?

A: There are two easy ways to do it. Your computer should allow you to put a blank disc in your CD drive, and you should be able to open the blank CD, drag the MP3 files to it, and follow instructions to burn (make sure you choose to burn an audio CD).

Alternatively, you are probably playing these MP3s in iTunes, Windows Media Player, WinAmp, or another popular media player. Each of these programs has a menu command to burn a selected group of MP3s to a blank CD.

Q: I'm having trouble getting the printable CD covers to work right. What is wrong?

A: You are probably having one of two problems. If you need help with folding, visit these handy step-by-step instructions. If you have tried folding and the size/alignment seems off, you probably need to change your printer settings. In your Print dialog, find the "Page Scaling" drop-down menu. Make sure "None" is selected. Alternatively, you may see a checkbox labeled "Shrink oversized pages to paper size", which should not be checked.
